Riva del Garda

Riva del Garda lies on the northern bank of Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy, in the area called Garda Trentino. In the 17th century, Lake Garda became a popular destination for the Middle-European elite. The list of its famous guests includes Goethe, Freud, Nietzsche, the Mann brothers, Kafka, Lawrence. Lake Garda attracts many tourists every year, and offers numerous opportunities for sightseeing in the towns along its shores and outdoors activities (from swimming to hiking ). Riva del Garda is a town renowned for its ancient traditional hospitality; the large and sunny beaches are bordered by sheer rocks and Mediterranean vegetation with olive and lemon groves, palms and bay trees. Climate, vegetation, morphology all contribute in making Garda Trentino a special place. Close to Trento, Verona and the main art cities of the north of Italy but also to a plenty of enchanting locations: the castles of Trentino, the renowned wineyards, the Dolomites mountains.

Conference Venue

Right in the town centre and fully immersed into green surroundings, the Congress Centre combines a central location at walking distance from several hotels, with a location of rare beauty directly on the shores of Lake Garda. The Centre, recently renewed, offers the most technological equipments covering a total surface of 6,100 sqm. One plenary room of 800 seats, and additional meeting rooms, combine with a 2,700 sqm multifunctional area, ideal location for meetings and catering services.

    From Rovereto you can take a taxi or a bus to Riva (40-50 minutes). An updated schedule of local buses will soon be available.

  • Taxi

    Taxis are usually available outside the station during the day. Should you not find any available taxi upon your arrival, please call 0039 045 532666 to get one.

    Price: around 150 euros (please note that this is an indicative figure, and can vary based on the time of your arrival and traffic load).

  • Pre-arranged shuttle

    You might want to consider this option if you are landing in Verona and are traveling with other people. Prearranged shuttles can host up to 8 persons and allow you to share costs. Please email autonoleggio@radiotaxiverona.it at least 7 days prior to your arrival providing the following information:

    • flight number and arrival time
    • number of passengers
    • a mobile phone number that will be valid in Italy
    Please make sure to mention that you are an ECML-PKDD participant.

    Price: 180€ (price is per shuttle and can be shared by 1-8 passengers).

By train

Especially if you are coming from the Munich area, traveling by train might also be an option. Deutsche Bahn offers trains from Munich to Rovereto (around 5-6 hours). For info about prices and schedules, please visit this page.
The closest railway station is Rovereto (40-50 minutes from conference venue).

  • Public transport (bus line 332)

  • Taxi

    Taxis are usually available outside the station during the day. Should you not find any available taxi upon your arrival, please call 0464 480066 to get one.

Accommodation

Rivatour, a travel agency working in partnership with the Congress Centre, provides a system for registration which also includes the possibility to book your accommodation, choosing among a selection of 3 and 4-starred hotels and hostels.

Note that most hotels that are not located in the close proximity of the Congress Centre provide bicycles to reach the conference venue. Alternatively, you can rent a bicycle for free from the Tourism Office located just in front of the Congress Centre (you will only be asked to put down a deposit). How to Register

Registration is managed by Rivatour, a travel agency working in partnership with the Congress Centre. Please note that any accompanying person should submit a separate registration.

Please note that at least one author for each accepted conference paper must register within July 10th. This registration is seen as a commitment to present the paper at the conference. Failure to register within this deadline will result in the paper being excluded from the proceedings and the conference program.

In case you do not manage to register before, you can register in the conference venue, but please use this option only as a last resort. On-site registration will be available from September 19, 2016.

Visa

Please make sure to check out if you need a visa to enter Italy. If you need an invitation letter please fill out this form in due time. Note that the access code obtained upon registration is required to submit your request. As an alternative, for authors who submitted a contribution to one of the conference tracks (with proceedings), it is also possible to provide the title and track of the submitted contribution. This option is only viable up to the acceptance notification of June 20th.

If you register as a student, please send a statement certifying your student status to info@rivatour.it. The statement must be signed by your supervisor and submitted within 2 weeks after the registration.

Cancellations and Refunds

Regardless of the time of cancellation, Rivatour will retain a 50-euro amount from the fee you have paid. The remaining amount will be fully refunded to you. Please note that this only applies to conference registration fees. Accompanying person fees are non-refundable.
